Abstract

The study, entitled "Yayasan Khazanah Malay Songket Deli in Medan Baru Medan City", aims to understand the process of making songket product forms, motifs and meanings applied to the songket motifs. In this research, using qualitative descriptive method. The data collection is done by means of literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. This step is done to collect data songket by Yayasan Khazanah Melayu Deli in Medan Baru Medan. This study was analyzed by using the theory of forms and theory of meaning. Songket produced still using manual tools, namely handloom. Products produced in the form of menswear, women, songket, sheets songket, and souvenirs. Classification of the overall motif can be divided into six, namely, tobacco motif, a four-star race, flowers, limes Sekupang, Maimun Palace, the Water Tower Tirnadi, and a large durian. The basis of the creation of Yayasan Khazanah motive is based on the richness and fertility of nature Deli, artifacts and icons Medan. Keywords: Songket, Product, Motifs and Meanings
